These works of mercy are taken from many books of the bible but Matthew 25:31-41 is the main reference. If you would like to go to Heaven they need to be practiced or put into action. All 14 are acts of charity and can be accomplished. Some should be done daily while others only when the need arises. 

The Corporal Works of Mercy deal with the body. Ways to meet the physical needs of others while the Spiritual Works of Mercy are for the Soul. Ways of meeting other's emotional and spiritual needs. Basically it is treating and helping others as you would like to be treated or as Christ would treat people. 

THE SEVEN SPIRITUAL WORKS OF MERCY

1.    Admonish the sinner
2.    Instruct the ignorant
3.    Counsel the doubtful
4.    Comfort the sorrowful - afflicted
5.    Forgive all injuries – offenses  
6.    Bear wrongs patiently
7.    Pray for the living and the dead

TEH SEVEN CORPORAL WORKS OF MERCY

1.    Feed the hungry
2.    Give drink to the thirsty
3.    Clothe the naked - give alms to the poor
4.    Shelter the homeless 
5.    Visit the sick 
6.    Visit the imprisoned
7.    Bury the dead
